DNA Result Delays

Wednesday 23 September 2015

Greyhounds Australasia (GA) confirms there is currently a delay in receiving DNA results from our contracted laboratory, Genomic Diagnostics. The delay has been caused by a temporary staff shortage within the contractor not GA or any controlling authority.

We have been advised of a large quantity of results this morning however some remain outstanding. Today GA has been advised by Genomic Diagnostics that all outstanding reports will be received by mid next week. Upon receipt, GA will immediately process the report and advise controlling authorities that the information is in Fasttrack and OzChase and send DNA certificates to waiting participants. In the meantime, participants are encouraged to check Fasttrack for their results.

GA has communicated its disappointment with this delay, and the fact that we were not advised of the likelihood of a delay, to Genomic Diagnostics in the past 48 hours. We have been assured that outstanding DNA reports are being processed as a high priority and that normal service to GA will be resumed in the short term.

Participants can normally expect their DNA results to be available within two to three weeks of the sample being received by the laboratory. At the moment, some participants are waiting up to six weeks for their results. This is unacceptable and GA apologises for any inconvenience this delay has caused breeders.
