Vets and Analysts Sub Committee
The Greyhounds Australasia Veterinary and Analyst Committee (GAVAC) is sanctioned by Greyhounds Australasia (GA) to provide advice to the GA Board via the CEO or Executive Committee (or directly on request), predominantly on matters related to prohibited substances and their detection (i.e. research), greyhound injury, illness and disease, nutrition, identifying and reducing welfare and integrity risk, On Track Vet support, breeding related matters (i.e. frozen semen), analytical issues, other integrity matters as deemed appropriate, disease and quarantine issues.
They may provide a balanced and suitably qualified opinion, where rules regarding welfare and or prohibited substances are being discussed.
The committee would also consider recommendations from the AGWSDV (Australian Greyhound Working and Sporting Dog Veterinarians), and review and assess scientific research proposals submitted to GA for GA’s funding or support.
They may review internal and external data to determine performance and other outcome trends which may lead to recommended changes to GARs, policies or practices.
The GAVAC will also undertake other such matters as deemed appropriate and delegated to them by the GA Board.
