Greyhounds Australasia (GA), through the GA Integrity Committee, has become aware of revised opinion of control bodies in relation to the stand down period applied under GAR 25 (6) to Greyhounds post administration of a vaccination. RWWA also advised that a Local Rule was introduced (LR 25) in February 2023, to amend the mandatory stand down period from seven days to five days within Western Australia. Veterinary advice has endorsed the variation to five days and that it does not negatively impact the best interests of the greyhound’s welfare. Following consultation with the respective control bodies, Greyhounds Australasia advise an amended GAR 25(6) to reduce the seven-day exclusion period to five days, as follows.
Amended GAR 25 (6): 25 Minimum Vaccination Requirements (6) Unless a Controlling Body determines otherwise, a greyhound must not compete in any (a) Event within five days of the date it was administered a vaccine.
