As we move into the new financial year, Greyhounds Australasia (GA) is pleased to introduce a new service that aims to enhance the experience for breeders, owners, and participants in the greyhound racing industry. Here are the key updates effective from 1 July 2024:
1. Parentage Certification Service
The Parentage Certification Service (PCS) represents development in transparency for greyhound pedigree and parentage verification.
Service Details:
Available for any greyhound under 24 months old, named or unnamed, provided the greyhound is registered and microchipped.
The PCS will certify a greyhound’s parentage and provide a full pedigree certificate via DNA testing.
The introductory cost for the PCS is $130 per greyhound.
Procedure:
The DNA test must be completed and authenticated by a registered veterinarian.
PCS Kits will be available from GA and Selected Veterinary Clinics.
If a greyhound has been Parentage Certified, no further DNA test will be required when registering for breeding with the Controlling Body.
This new service provides breeders and owners with significant peace of mind, particularly when purchasing or selling unraced pups, ensuring accurate pedigree verification.
2. Fee Adjustments for FY25
To address the increased business expenses of the past few years and maintain financial sustainability, GA will implement a modest fee increase of approximately 5% for all GA services from 1 July 2024.

This adjustment aims to prevent the need for a substantial increase in future years, balancing the financial requirements of the organization while minimizing the impact on participants.
