Parentage Certification Service (PCS)
Greyhounds Australasia (GA) is pleased to introduce a new service that aims to enhance the experience for breeders, owners, and participants in the greyhound racing industry.
The Parentage Certification Service (PCS) represents development in transparency for greyhound pedigree and parentage verification.
Service Details:
Available for any greyhound under 24 months old, named or unnamed, provided the greyhound is registered and microchipped.
The PCS will certify a greyhound’s parentage and provide a full pedigree certificate via DNA testing.
The introductory cost for the PCS is $130 per greyhound.
Procedure:
The DNA test must be completed and authenticated by a registered veterinarian.
PCS Kits will be available from GA and Selected Veterinary Clinics.
If a greyhound has been Parentage Certified, no further DNA test will be required when registering for breeding with the Controlling Body.
This new service provides breeders and owners with significant peace of mind, particularly when purchasing or selling unraced pups, ensuring accurate pedigree verification.
Frequently Asked Questions – PCS
The Parentage Certification Service is available at a cost of $130 per greyhound. Additional vet service fees apply that are not covered in this payment.
To order a PCS Test Kit, please complete the application form under our Forms section here.
All being well, we would anticipate processing times of approximately 4 weeks to obtain results. Once your results are available, you will receive a copy of the report with your certificate by post.
Once a pup has been microchipped and registered with the relevant Controlling Body, the application can be made for the PCS test. The greyhound does not need to be named to complete the PCS test. PCS Tests apply for those greyhounds under 24 months. Any greyhound aged over 24 months would need to complete a Breeding DNA test.
Once a greyhound is Parentage Certified via PCS test and DNA is catalogued with GA, a Breeding DNA test is not required. Owners/Breeders are still required to make an application to register the greyhound for breeding purposes and meet designated requirements with their relevant Controlling Body.
